If you’re headed to the beach this summer, you may encounter some of our designs—especially now that we’ve merged with T-Squared Engineers and Axiom Commissioning Group in San Diego, just minutes from the beautiful California coastline. These additions to the Salas O’Brien portfolio include dozens of waterfront properties from city-run parks to military facilities. Here are two you could visit this weekend:
Beach Terrace Inn
Our San Diego team provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for the renovation and refurbishment of Beach Terrace Inn in Carlsbad, the city’s only hotel on exclusive beach-front property. During the course of the project, our engineers reconfigured and expanded the hotel lobby, evaluated power distribution, and replaced existing exhaust, plumbing, and lighting fixtures. The finished facility’s luxurious suites, private beach, and ocean-view terrace pool make it the perfect spot for a summer weekend retreat.
Point Loma Seafoods
If you’re craving crab, one of our San Diego projects on the harbor may be just what you’re looking for. Point Loma Seafoods has been around since 1963 when husband-wife team Kelly and Marie Christianson started selling fish in a small San Diego retail shop. Their high standards for freshness and quality quickly earned them a strong local reputation, and over the next years, they grew their menu and entered the restaurant business.
Our team provided engineering design for their new waterfront restaurant, which includes an interior retail area, a commercial kitchen, indoor and outdoor dining, and an upstairs terrace overlooking the America’s Cup Harbor. Perhaps the restaurant’s most notable feature, an attached lighthouse uses solar power to illuminate the waterfront walkway at night.
